The event attracted about 60 participants. The NCKU team involved in the event included the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the Institute of Medical Informatics, and the Digital Biotechnology and Medical Innovation Research Center. The event was opened by Dr. Ren-Zong Yang, Director of Chiayi Chang Gung Memorial Hospital; Dr. Shih-Chun Wu, Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at NCKU; and Dr. Jun-Liang Lin, Vice President of Chiayi Chang Gung Memorial Hospital.
The event continued with thematic lectures by Professor Sheng-Fu Liang, Director of the Institute of Manufacturing Information and Systems at NCKU, and Assistant Professor Hui-Ling Zhan from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at NCKU. They presented on "Digital Health – Information Technology and Medical Care" and "The Role of Non-invasive Auricular Vagus Nerve Stimulation in Brain-Body Activity Regulation." Following these talks, NCKU's Vice Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Dr. Zhen-Jie Lian, Professor Fu-Ren Xiao from the Department of Psychology, Professor Shi-Hao Wang from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Dr. Zhong-Ping Yang, Director of the Institute of Medical Informatics, hosted sessions discussing the joint research results between the physicians at Chiayi Chang Gung Hospital and NCKU faculty. The topics included "Edge Computing Applications in Knee Joint Patient Rehabilitation," "Precision Mental and Physical Assessment Technology for Karate Athletes," "Application of Real-Time Acoustic Monitoring Technology in Brain Artery Stenosis and Obstruction," and "Innovative Practices in Brainwave Analysis and Report Generation Using Hybrid Artificial Intelligence Models." After the presentations, faculty, students, and doctors from the hospital engaged in lively academic exchanges.
In the afternoon, Dr. Dong-Ru He from Chiayi Chang Gung Memorial Hospital shared insights on "The Application of Digital Technology in Hospitals," demonstrating the practical applications of digital technologies in the medical field and the future challenges. Following the lecture, the doctors from Chiayi Chang Gung led the students on a tour of the "Clinical Trial Center," where students learned about the structure of clinical research platforms and medical technology environments, gaining valuable knowledge.
After the presentations, Dr. Zhong-Ping Yang led the students to visit the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum. Notably, this was the first time NCKU's Institute of Medical Informatics held an off-campus visit, which not only provided an academic exchange opportunity but also fostered cooperation and dialogue between the academic and medical communities. Through the guided tour, students not only expanded their academic perspectives but also gained a deeper appreciation for the charm of humanities and arts, with hopes of sparking more academic insights in the future.
