The 2024 National Accounting Elite Master Competition at NCKU: 31 Teams from 14 Universities Compete for Top Honors
In his speech, Yong-Cheng Yang, President of the Taiwan Provincial Certified Public Accountants Association, mentioned that, against the backdrop of globalization and the rapid changes in the domestic business environment, accounting and tax law systems are constantly evolving. This competition, based on the latest accounting and tax law topics, consisted of individual and group rounds in the preliminary stages, followed by a team challenge and elite finals. The strong panel of judges, composed of renowned industry accountants, created questions to rigorously test the contestants' theoretical and practical abilities.
After a day of competition, the first place was awarded to National Pingtung University’s "Men Qing Yi Mo San" team, which received NT$50,000. The second place went to National Taipei University of Business’s "Xian Su Yan Jiang" team, who earned NT$30,000, while third place went to the "Hui Zi Yi Jia Qin" team from the same university with NT$20,000. Other prizes included NT$15,000 for fourth place (Chao Yang University of Technology’s "Zen Me Hui Shi" team), NT$12,000 for fifth place (Chih Lee Institute of Technology’s "Hui Le GOGO Luo" team), and NT$3,000 for the three winning teams. Teams that did not advance each received NT$2,000.
President Yong-Cheng Yang also encouraged students to form teams and participate, noting that students who placed 5th to 8th in the competition would be directly hired without interviews, with those ranked 4th and above receiving a NT$2,000 salary increase. He hoped the competition would encourage more students to join the accounting profession and announced that the association would continue collaborating with schools across Taiwan to expand the event’s scale.
Vice President of NCKU, Woei-Jer Chuang, emphasized that accounting professionals play an increasingly vital role in today’s rapidly changing business environment. The competition covered diverse fields within accounting and tax law, integrating theory and practice, and provided a valuable learning opportunity and platform for participants to expand their knowledge and professional skills, laying a solid foundation for their future careers.
Ya-Jing Li, Director of the Southern District of the National Tax Bureau of Taiwan, encouraged students to make the most of their education, noting that academic knowledge is important, but practical application and continuous self-improvement are essential in accounting. She highlighted the importance of observing environmental and social trends, especially with the rise of AI, and learning to adapt to these changes.
Deputy Director of the Tainan City Government's Taxation Bureau, Bao-Yu Qiu, shared her experience in studying economics and accounting, acknowledging the challenges of applying theory to practice, and expressed hopes that the competition would leave lasting memories for participants.
Hao-Ji Chen, Specialist Commissioner of the Tainan City Economic Development Bureau, noted that many accountants present served as role models for the students. He stressed the importance of continuously honing skills to succeed in future competitions and professional endeavors.
The "2024 National Accounting Elite Master Competition" was organized by the Department of Accounting and the Institute of Finance and Banking at NCKU, in collaboration with the Taiwan Provincial Certified Public Accountants Association. It covered multiple areas, including financial statement analysis, accounting, and tax processing, and attracted 31 teams from 14 universities, including NCKU, Fu Jen Catholic University, National Chung Hsing University, and National Taipei University of Business, among others.
To ensure fairness and professionalism, the event invited senior members of the Taiwan Provincial Certified Public Accountants Association, including Vice Presidents Jia-Long Cai, Yue-Feng Wu, and Chun-Cheng Shi, to serve as professional judges. They reviewed the competition questions and provided expert feedback, offering valuable suggestions to the participants for their future studies and practical applications.
Yong-Cheng Yang, Chairman of the Taiwan Provincial Certified Public Accountants Association, stated that students who participate in the Elite Talent competition are the best of the best.
Vice President Woei-Jer Chuang of National Cheng Kung University hopes that the participating students can expand their horizons and deepen their professional expertise through practical experience.
Director Ya-Ching Li of the Southern Regional National Taxation Bureau, Ministry of Finance, encouraged students to learn how to continuously improve themselves and stay informed about the dynamics of social development.
Deputy Director Bao-Yu Qiu of the Tainan City Government's Finance and Taxation Bureau stated that combining practical experience with accounting is quite challenging for students.
The 3rd "2024 National Accounting Elite Talent Competition" concluded with the team "Men Qing Yi Mo San" from National Pingtung University winning the championship and receiving a prize of 50,000 NTD.
The 3rd "2024 National Accounting Elite Competition" took place on December 7 at the First Lecture Hall of the International Conference Hall, Kuang-Fu Campus, National Cheng Kung University.
