The University of the City of Manila Visits National Cheng Kung University to Expand Collaborative Opportunities
Dr. Woei-Jer Chuang highlighted in his speech that NCKU has had longstanding connections with higher education institutions in the Philippines, with many Filipino students studying at NCKU in the past. He emphasized NCKU’s outstanding performance in academia-industry collaboration and its strong ties with the industry, which he believes will attract more Filipino students to study at NCKU.
Dr. Joseph Berlin Juanzon remarked that this visit not only deepens ties with the College of Engineering but also marks the beginning of collaborations with the College of Medicine. He expressed his hope that this visit would serve as a starting point for enhanced faculty and student exchanges, laying the foundation for deeper collaborations between the two universities in the future.
Representing NCKU at this institutional meeting were Executive Vice President Dr. Woei-Jer Chuang, Vice President for International Affairs Dr. Sun-Yuan Hsieh, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering Dr. Chen-Ming Kuo, Professor Chun Hei Antonio Cheung of the College of Medicine, and Section Chief of the International Relations Division Mr. Chia-Hsiang Lin. After brief introductions of the two universities by Dr. Sun-Yuan Hsieh and the University of the City of Manila's Dean of the College of Business, Dr. Bernard R. Letrero, Dr. Chen-Ming Kuo and Professor Chun Hei Antonio Cheung provided detailed presentations on the key features of NCKU's Colleges of Engineering and Medicine, respectively. During the discussion, NCKU faculty shared information on current policies supporting international students with the University of the City of Manila delegation. After the meeting, Executive Vice President Dr. Chuang accompanied the visitors for a group photo in front of the Banyan Garden.
