Executive Vice President Woei-Jer Chuang remarked that BUU and NCKU have enjoyed long-term collaboration since 2017. Building on this foundation, he proposed the establishment of a cross-national medical alliance between the universities' hospitals to share research data, enhance big data resources, and improve the accuracy of AI-based healthcare. He also emphasized the importance of increasing faculty and student exchanges to strengthen the partnership further.
BUU President Watcharin Gasaluck, Ph.D. expressed gratitude for NCKU's warm hospitality and highlighted the origins of their collaboration through the Asia Pacific Workshop and Conference on Molecular Medicine (APCMM), which addresses global population growth challenges. He also noted the Thai government’s support for BUU’s hospital by providing funding to enhance medical resources. Beyond strengthening ties with NCKU’s College of Medicine, President Watcharin Gasaluck expressed interest in initiating collaborations in the fields of science and natural sciences, exchanging research expertise, and fostering mutual growth. He likened the relationship between the universities to the banyan trees in NCKU’s Banyan Garden, symbolizing deep-rooted and sustainable growth.
The high-level meeting included NCKU representatives such as Executive Vice President Woei-Jer Chuang, Vice President for International Affairs Sun-Yuan Hsieh, Director of the Institute of Allied Health Sciences Hui-Ching Weng, Vice Convener of the College of Medicine’s International Affairs Committee Chun Hei Antonio Cheung, and Professor Hsiao-Fang Sun from the Institute of Molecular Medicine, a key figure in the collaboration. After an overview of both institutions and their partnership history, Professor Chun Hei Antonio Cheung provided a detailed introduction to NCKU’s College of Medicine. During the discussions, President Watcharin Gasaluck emphasized the importance of student exchange programs, language exchange initiatives, and faculty exchange opportunities to foster deeper connections between the two universities. NCKU responded positively, suggesting the establishment of dedicated contact points to facilitate and sustain collaborative efforts.
