NCKU Promotes Online Pre-course and Flexible Curriculum to Enhance Students' Interdisciplinary Skills for the Future
In the face of an uncertain and rapidly changing future, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) is committed to cultivating students with two core capabilities—professional and interdisciplinary hard skills, as well as soft skills in caring for life. The university actively promotes courses in life, humanities and aesthetics, emphasizing the balance between humanities and technology. Through the development of micro-courses in aesthetic education, a team of professional faculty, specialized educational environments, and the compilation of dedicated books on life education, NCKU aims to further deepen students' humanistic literacy, inspire critical thinking and innovation, and create a high-quality campus that integrates both professional expertise and humanistic spirit, nurturing a unique cultural strength for NCKU.
In addition, to help incoming students adapt to the university learning pace and build a solid foundation, NCKU will launch the "University Pre-Bridge Program AP 2.0" in the 114th academic year. In addition to the existing foundational subjects such as calculus, general biology, general chemistry, and general physics, new courses will include English, Chinese, general education, and modular courses. These will be offered through online asynchronous teaching and self-directed learning modes, with registration expected to open by the end of June. Students who complete the courses and pass the in-person exams will be eligible for credit exemption, paving the way for a more flexible learning experience in the future.
Furthermore, in response to the increasingly diverse cross-disciplinary needs of students, NCKU is promoting a flexible academic system that strengthens self-directed cross-disciplinary counseling and resource sharing, allowing students to freely choose courses based on their personal interests and career plans. Through complementary transitions between various learning modules, such as introductory, intensive, modular, and specialized micro-courses, NCKU breaks traditional disciplinary boundaries. This approach helps students plan personalized learning paths, enabling them to explore diverse development opportunities and innovative values.
NCKU continues to adopt innovative strategies to bridge the gap between academia and society, aiming to be a solid guide for every student at key turning points in their lives, working together to create a broader and brighter future.
