NCKU Advances Shalun Hospital Project with Integrity Platform, Fostering Cross-Sector Collaboration
To ensure the smooth progress of the “Phase 1 (Zone F) Turnkey Project of Shalun Medical Service and Innovation Park – Shalun Hospital New Construction,” National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) convened the first liaison meeting for the project's Procurement Integrity Platform on April 15 at its campus. By promoting public-private collaboration and cross-sector cooperation mechanisms, the university aims to proactively identify and manage potential risks, thereby safeguarding the quality of the construction project.
The meeting was chaired by NCKU Executive Vice President Ching-Chang Lee and attended by representatives from the Taiwan Tainan District Prosecutors Office, the Agency Against Corruption of the Ministry of Justice, the Department of Civil Service Ethics of the Ministry of Education, and the Department of Civil Service Ethics of Tainan City Government. During the meeting, NCKU provided a project briefing covering the background, scope, and timeline of the Shalun Hospital construction. Representatives from participating agencies also exchanged views and insights. Executive Vice President Lee emphasized that to ensure openness, transparency, and integrity throughout the procurement process of this major project, NCKU has established the Procurement Integrity Platform in accordance with the Agency Against Corruption of the Ministry of Justice’s policy. The platform aims to strengthen horizontal communication and coordination across sectors, enabling early detection and resolution of potential risks during the execution phase, thus allowing staff to work with greater safety and confidence.
The Ministry of Education noted that the "Shalun Medical Service and Innovation Park" is a key government initiative to promote regional development, with the establishment of Shalun Hospital representing a critical step toward enhancing healthcare capacity in the Greater Tainan area. To ensure the smooth execution of the construction project and to prevent any misconduct, NCKU proactively established the Procurement Integrity Platform and convened the liaison meeting. Through cross-agency collaboration and supervision mechanisms, the university seeks to create an open and transparent procurement environment, demonstrating its strong commitment to the project and its hope to build a trustworthy medical environment with collective oversight from all sectors.
