AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), the world’s leading international authority on business school accreditation, recently unveiled its milestone report, "Five Years of Societal Impact." In a significant achievement, ECOCO—a circular economy platform nominated by the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) College of Management—has been featured as a global "Impact Story." This distinction marks NCKU as the sole top-tier university business school in Taiwan to be selected in this global showcase, highlighting the College's success in translating education into tangible societal impact.
Established in 1916, AACSB is the most influential global accrediting body for business education. It is dedicated to advancing the quality of management education worldwide through a rigorous certification process, a distinction earned by less than 6 percent of the world's top business schools.
In the official report, AACSB highlights ECOCO as an exemplary case within the "Environment" domain. Co-founded by NCKU EMBA alumnus Mr. Chang-Lian (Aaron) Wu, ECOCO utilizes a pioneering model that integrates "reverse-vending technology" with a "gamified mobile application," reframing environmental stewardship into an engaging, reward-based daily habit. The feature specifically notes ECOCO’s impressive trajectory, which originated on campuses and in urban centers in Tainan before expanding its reach to rural communities and offshore islands across Taiwan. This initiative does more than just drive public participation in recycling plastics, cans, and batteries; it serves as a prime example of how the College of Management nurtures students to turn academic theory into scalable, real-world sustainability solutions.
Beyond this international recognition for sustainability, Mr. Wu was also honored with the 27th "Outstanding Startup Manager Award" by the Chinese Professional Management Association of Tainan in 2025, further cementing his professional standing and excellence within the industry. Dean Su of the NCKU College of Management stated that the college's educational philosophy deeply resonates with AACSB’s advocacy of "Purpose beyond profit." The College remains committed to cultivating management talent who possess both professional expertise and a strong sense of social responsibility, emphasizing sustainable development and the creation of positive power for social value.。Access the full AACSB "Five Years of Societal Impact" online report 。
