NCKU Graduation Lawn Music Festival Blends Sustainability and Music, Drawing Nearly 5,000 Participants
Following the successful Yacht Party and Graduation Prom, the 2026 Graduation Association of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) recently held its grand “Love in NCKU (Qingcheng Love 傾成之戀)” Graduation Lawn Music Festival at Banyan Garden. For the first time, the event collaborated with the NCKU Sustainable Innovation Club to combine a live music festival with an eco-friendly marketplace. This innovative initiative created a graduation celebration that embraced both youthful energy and sustainability, attracting nearly 5,000 participants.
According to Graduation Association President Chen-Hung Wu, the Lawn Music Festival, held on May 23, featured a diverse lineup of renowned singers, bands, and DJs. Performers included singer-songwriter Karencici, The Crane, Goatak, Andr, Howard Lee, legendary DJ Luo Bai-Ji ft. Baby, GGteens, student bands Hoho Wallow, Off-Beat, Yong De Yi Lu (踊的一路), and the graduation song team Complaianer. The variety of musical styles appealed to audiences of different tastes, creating an energetic atmosphere and providing graduates with an unforgettable celebration.
This year, the festival also partnered with the “EDGEMAN MARKET (邊緣人市集),” a well-known creative marketplace brand. In addition to cultural and creative vendor booths, the event incorporated environmental sustainability for the first time. Working together with the NCKU Sustainable Innovation Club, organizers provided reusable tableware rental services on-site, encouraging attendees to reduce their use of single-use products and minimize waste generated during the event. Through these efforts, the festival promoted environmentally friendly practices and helped sustainability become a natural part of participants’ daily lives.
The Graduation Association noted that large-scale events have traditionally generated significant amounts of waste. This year, sustainability was intentionally integrated into the planning of graduation-related activities in an effort to challenge conventional perceptions and establish a new model that balances enjoyment with environmental responsibility. By combining music, a creative marketplace, and sustainable action, the event not only showcased the creativity and initiative of NCKU students but also reflected the university’s long-standing commitment to University Social Responsibility (USR).
The Graduation Association hopes that the music and enthusiasm of the festival will serve as a heartfelt blessing to graduates and that the event will become one of their most cherished and memorable experiences at NCKU.
