NCKU's Forward-looking Medical Device Technology Center organized the "Healthcare Industry Future Outlook and Economic Development International Training Program" from November 27 to December 1, spanning five days at the NCKU Hall. The theme of the program was "Shaping a Biomedical Resilient Homeland through Digital Healthcare," emphasizing the need for the biomedical industry to cultivate international interdisciplinary professionals with a foundation in innovative research and to create new industry value using biomedical data effectively. The event also incorporated the Taiwan Healthcare Industry Comprehensive Ecological Chain Professional Exhibition - the 2023 Medical Technology Exhibition, allowing participants from around the world to engage in Taiwan's annual healthcare industry event.
On the first day, Chairman Tu Hsing-Che of the Foundation for Biomedical Development shared insights on "Towards Taiwan's New Biomedical Future - Key Codes: 13579." Chairman Tu proposed the concept of treating Taiwan as one large biotechnology company, focusing on innovative research and development targeting "Unmet Medical Needs" that can be industrialized to create maximum value. Other speakers included General Manager Zhang Feng-Qi of BenQ GreaTek, who discussed the strategic layout of the BenQ GreaTek Group's medical fleet, and Chairman Hsieh Ta-Jen of the Taiwan Medical and Biotech Industry Association, who introduced the current status and future trends of Taiwan's biotech and medical industry.
This year's event saw the physical participation of scholars and experts from 23 countries, including Belize, the Philippines, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Montenegro, Myanmar, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Tunisia, Russia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, South Africa, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam. Over 120 participants, including scholars, physicians, and students from Taiwan and various countries, gathered for this event, marking the largest international conference organized by the Forward-looking Medical Device Technology Center after the Covid-19 pandemic. The conference also introduced the culture and history of Tainan and highlighted the upcoming celebration of the city's 400th anniversary in 2024, inviting international attendees to witness Taiwan's new biomedical future and leave a significant memory of this land.
Since 2015, NCKU's Forward-looking Medical Device Technology Center has been organizing the "Healthcare Industry Future Outlook and Economic Development International Training Program" for eight consecutive years. The program focuses on interdisciplinary innovation research and talent development in management, strengthening the platform for industry-academia collaboration.
The program featured a presentation by a professor from the USC Gould School of Law in the United States, introducing the regulatory trends of the FDA in digital medical and smart medical software. Industry speakers from the Bio-ICT sector included representatives from NaCare Biotech, Chang Hsin Materials, Cofano Health, GMedical, Asia Genomics, Medimaging Integrated Solution, BowLine Medical, QyScore Medical, Avalue Technology, Delta Electronics, WiSE Medical, Luminous Bio, Dragon Bone King, iMUNI, Bio-Circuits Smart Health, Taiwan Healthcare Originals, Chaotech Medical, ShiinMed, and Shin Yeh Biomedical. Each speaker and their respective companies applied their expertise to the healthcare and health maintenance market, aiming to accelerate the innovation of medical information systems, actively promote telemedicine, foster cross-disciplinary cooperation, and advance the transformation and promotion of Taiwan's biotechnology and medical industry.
The Forward-looking Medical Device Technology Center at NCKU will continue to cultivate this platform, promoting cooperation and academic networks in healthcare with Southeast Asian countries. They will also collaborate with European and American countries in joint research and development projects, realizing a biomedical value cycle starting from the end.
