Sustainable Talent: The 6th NCKU Evergreen Commercial Bank Scholarship Award Ceremony Held Today.
“The Sixth Annual Presentation Ceremony of the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) - Outstanding Talent Scholarship of Bank SinoPac Company Limited" took place this morning at the NCKU Future Venue on the Sheng-Li campus. The awards were presented by President Huey-Jen Su of NCKU and Pin-Jui Huang, head of digital finance at bank SinoPac. Prior to the ceremony, the awardees attended a 'Brainstorming Workshop' where they engaged in three intensive discussions aimed at maximizing the benefits of the scholarship, expressing gratitude to bank SinoPac.
President Huey-Jen Su, in her final appearance as president at the scholarship ceremony, expressed her deep concern for the past recipients of the NCKU-SinoPac scholarships. She stated, "Even after stepping down as president, I will continue to strive to be a better person." She emphasized the importance of digital finance in future life and expressed her pleasure at having the opportunity to explore future challenges with the students. Receiving the scholarship signifies a greater responsibility, requiring recipients to become individuals capable of bringing more happiness to others, regardless of their origins. It is hoped that each awardee will carry with them a deeper sense of gratitude and a pursuit of excellence, becoming better global citizens.
Pin-Jui Huang, head of digital finance at bank SinoPac, expressed deep feelings about the collaboration with NCKU since 2017. She remarked, "We've witnessed the establishment of the SinoPac NCKU Branch, bringing more financial services to the faculty and students. The transformation of the Atelier Future allows more young people to propose their ideas for the future. In the process of NCKU moving towards the new century, SinoPac is honored to be its best financial partner."
She also advised the recipients that receiving the scholarship is an affirmation and planning the use of the award is also a part of life learning. She suggested considering methods such as regular savings to maximize the benefits. She emphasized the importance of continuous efforts to become better individuals regardless of location or nationality.
In a departure from previous award ceremonies, the sixth edition of the NCKU-SinoPac Outstanding Talent Scholarship held a workshop before the ceremony. The 48 awardees engaged in 'Design Thinking' sessions with the prompt "How might we?" to deeply consider how to maximize the utility of the scholarship over the next six months. Many recipients expressed their intention to use the scholarship to deepen their understanding of sustainable development and to become more courageous in their endeavors, unafraid of failure, and striving to become better contributors to society.
Global sustainable development issues pose significant challenges for future generations. In response, NCKU's SinoPac Bank Outstanding Talent Scholarship for the 111th academic year added bonus criteria such as ESG, green finance, FinTech, and SDGs to encourage students to participate in sustainable actions and become future trend talents. Out of 400 applicants, 60 awardees emerged, with nearly 60% stating they would use the scholarship to pursue higher degrees or learn new skills. Others expressed intentions to use it for international exchange programs, purchasing equipment for learning or work, or even entrepreneurship. The recipients expressed overwhelming joy at receiving the scholarship and pledged to continue striving to become better versions of themselves.
