On the sunny and pleasant day of November 11 in Tainan, the alumni event concluded amidst a joyful atmosphere. Alumni from the Institute of Arts returned to their alma mater, engaging in delightful conversations with past instructors, reminiscing about the various aspects of the Lixian Building's construction process. NCKU boasts several national and municipal historical sites, among which the nationally designated heritage, Lixian Building, underwent a two-year restoration project and reopened earlier in 2023. The building continues to serve as the Institute of Arts' departmental building. On the morning of November 11, the alumni event began with encouraging words from the invited sixth director of the Institute of Arts Studies, Professor Wang Weiyong. He shared perspectives on art and encouraged younger peers to broaden their artistic horizons.
Several former instructors also joined the event to revisit the early days of the Institute of Arts, sharing beautiful memories of the institute's establishment. Professor Kuang-Sheng Shih shared his practical experiences at the institute, including executing art projects and reflections on his work "Towards Drama: Kuang-Sheng Shih's Prose Collection," autographing copies on-site. Professor Mei-Hua Gao shared the institute's endeavors in art education and the cultivation of artistic awareness at the university level, hoping for a brighter future for the Institute of Arts. Professor Hsiao Chong-Ray expressed gratitude for the invitation and shared insights into the construction process of Lixian Building and the establishment and development of the museum, expressing hopes for the enhancement of campus aesthetics.
Simultaneously, a documentary titled "Celebrating Success and Building: A Journey into the Reconstruction of Lixian Building" was screened during the event, guiding the audience through memories and highlights of the restoration process. During the banquet, Professors Wei-Yong Wang and Kuang-Sheng Shih gathered to cut a cake adorned with the words "Steps Ascending," creating a warm and happy moment captured in a group photo.
In the afternoon, Dr. Yu-Hua Tsai, associate researcher at the NCKU Museum, led everyone on a tour of Lixian Building, delving into the details and processes of the historical site's restoration. At the "Past and Present: 111th Anniversary Special Exhibition of the Construction of Lixian Building," Dr. Tsai shared insights into the meticulous adjustments made to the building's facade during the construction process to achieve visual aesthetics, earning admiration from attendees.
Furthermore, alumni from the Institute of Arts engaged in lively conversations with instructors outside Lixian Building, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
