NCKU teams up with lean management expert Michael Ballé to drive lean research and product upgrades in Taiwanese industries
On November 28, the NCKU Lean Product Development Center and the Taiwan Lean Enterprise System Association held the "2023 Lean Forum and Benchmarking Improvement Book Launch" at the Windsor Hotel in Taichung. Renowned author and lean expert Michael Ballé, also a Lean Coach and Planet Lean Expert Coach, and the founder of the French Lean Association, shared his latest work, "Benchmarking Improvement." The event also featured case studies on lean practices by various companies, attracting nearly 200 professionals, researchers, and experts from both domestic and international settings.
Dr. Ke-Qiang Zhao from Lean Enterprise China (LEC), in his opening speech, expressed gratitude to Dr. Yu-Xiu Hong, the director of the Lean Product Development Center, for his long-standing efforts in promoting lean research and development. Dr. Zhao acknowledged the fruitful results accumulated by the Lean Product Development Center since its establishment in 2019, covering talent cultivation, book translation, article publications, and connections with lean professionals worldwide. He warmly welcomed Michael Ballé, who traveled from France to attend the event.
Michael Ballé shared insights from his latest book, "Benchmarking Improvement," which discusses how Aramis, a startup founded in 2001, overcame various challenges in the highly volatile market using networks, digital technology, and lean management. The book also highlights Aramis' growth under the guidance of lean mentors, achieving continuous growth even during the pandemic (from an annual revenue of 5 million euros to the current 200 million euros).
The "2023 Lean Forum and Benchmarking Improvement Book Launch" was organized by the NCKU Lean Product Development Center and the Taiwan Lean Enterprise System Association, with support from the Taiwan Machinery Industry Association, Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders' Association, Logic Solutions Company, Yeong Chin Machinery Industry Company, RongFu Industrial Company, SEYI Machinery Industry Company, Kao Ming Precision Machine Industry Company, Everest Textile, and Taiwan Keyarrow Company.
Another highlight of the lean management exchange was the invitation to Everest Textile, Zeus Helmets, SOCO Machinery, and Machan International to share their successful practices in lean improvement, product innovation, and R&D process improvement, providing practical and feasible references for participants.
