The "2023 Accounting Trends Forum," jointly organized by the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Department of Accountancy and Graduate Institute of Finance and the Kaohsiung Society of Certified Public Accountants, was held today (15) at the Department of Accountancy building on the Kuang-Fu Campus. The event brought together experts from academia, industry, and government to discuss the impact of AI applications and digital transformation on accounting and auditing.
The forum began with opening remarks from Ting-Kai Chou, Director of the Department of Accountancy at NCKU, and Chun-Tsung Lee, Chairman of the Kaohsiung Society of Certified Public Accountants. The first keynote speech, titled "Applications of Machine Learning in the Field of Accounting," was delivered by Professor Yan-Ching Tsai from the Department of Accounting at National Taiwan University, offering insightful perspectives on the application of machine learning in accounting. Following this, there were concurrent academic lectures, paper presentations, and three sessions of practical seminars.
The academic lectures featured Assistant Professor Ji-Yang Zou from the University of Manchester, who shared insights on "Data, Markups, and Asset Prices." In the paper presentation sessions, a total of 12 topics were presented, covering areas such as financial reporting quality and auditor choice, the value and regulation of financial information, and capital markets and emerging issues.
In the practical seminar sessions, topics included "Digital Transformation Strategies and Enterprise Practices" and "Future of Finance: Leveraging Technology for Accounting and Finance Transformation," presented by representatives from Cheng & Innovation Consulting and Deloitte Taiwan, respectively. These sessions included multidimensional discussions and interactions.
The "2023 Accounting Trends Forum" aimed to enhance the quality of academic research in the field of accounting and auditing in Taiwan by facilitating discussions and exchanges on current topics. Through this event, it is hoped that domestic accounting standards will be further improved, ultimately achieving the goal of integrating theory and practice.
