NCKU Partners with Vietnam National University to Launch First Intensive Summer Course, Promoting International Education

Synergy Correlation

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) has furthered its commitment to deepening academic collaborations with key institutions in Southeast Asia. This year, NCKU formalized a partnership with Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) and launched its first intensive summer course collaboration. Professors Min-Fu Hsieh from the Department of Electrical Engineering, along with two other faculty members, visited VNUHCM to teach. International Affairs Director Sun-Yuan Hsieh emphasized NCKU's ongoing dedication to expanding international education. He expressed hope that cross-border teaching collaborations would foster close interactions between NCKU faculty and Vietnamese students and faculty, thus enhancing knowledge and talent exchange.

Professors Min-Fu Hsieh from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Der-Yow Chen from the Department of Psychology, and Ying-Lan Chen from the Department of Biotechnology and Industrial Science conducted intensive summer courses at VNUHCM's University of Science (HCMUS) and University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNUHCM-USSH). The courses featured active classroom interactions. In addition to teaching, Associate Professor Chin-Lung Yang and three other faculty members from the Department of Electrical Engineering visited seven universities and high schools in Ho Chi Minh City, including the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), to exchange experiences on cultivating international talent and strengthen connections with local institutions.

This visit marks the beginning of a new chapter in the partnership between NCKU and its Vietnamese sister schools, laying a solid foundation for future collaborations in fields such as semiconductor applications, biotechnology, and humanities and social sciences.

Founded in 1995 through the merger of several universities, VNUHCM is a top comprehensive university in Vietnam, alongside Vietnam National University in Hanoi (VNU). In May of this year, NCKU and VNUHCM signed a memorandum of understanding, with plans for ongoing bilateral cooperation in talent development and academic exchange.
