The 8th "NCKU x Bank SinoPac Scholarship" Award Ceremony was held on the afternoon of March 19 on the 2nd floor of the Future Building, with 35 local and international students receiving scholarships.
Senior Vice President of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Ping-Sheng Wu, and Chief Human Resource Officer of Bank SinoPac, Chia-Hung Liao, jointly attended the ceremony, encouraging students and personally presenting certificates to the awardees. The NCKU x Bank SinoPac Scholarship consists of the outstanding talent scholarship and the learning assistance scholarship, open to both domestic and international students from undergraduate and graduate programs. To date, Bank SinoPac has distributed over 30 million NTD in scholarships, benefiting more than 550 NCKU students. In the 113th academic year, 164 students applied for the scholarship, with 10 undergraduates and 15 graduate students selected. For the assistance grant, 58 students applied, including 5 local and 5 international students.
NCKU and Bank SinoPac have joined forces to promote the "NCKU x Bank SinoPac Scholarship" to not only provide financial support but also recognize students' efforts and persistence, guiding them to focus on sustainable development and social impact. Senior Vice President Ping-Sheng Wu expressed gratitude for Bank SinoPac's long-term support and emphasized that this scholarship differs from regular scholarships as it is not limited to students from finance-related disciplines but also values academic performance and financial need.
"This program is not just about financial aid, but also a recognition of students' perseverance and dedication," said Senior Vice President Ping-Sheng Wu, hoping that award recipients will leverage their skills to make a deeper social impact in the future.
Of particular note is that this year, in addition to offering scholarships, Bank SinoPac also actively supported the Hult Prize campus and Taiwan competitions. NCKU served as the host of this year's Taiwan competition, further encouraging students to pay attention to Sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) issues.
One of the awardees, Chun-Che Hung, a second-year master's student in the M.S. Degree Program on Cyber-Security Intelligence, shared his experience, mentioning that he had interned for over a year at Bank SinoPac's Cybersecurity Department during his undergraduate years. Through the guidance and assistance from supervisors and colleagues, he was able to apply his knowledge and gain invaluable practical experience that is hard to acquire in academic courses.
Scholarship recipients and organizers of this year's Hult Prize Taiwan and campus competitions, Ai-Hua Chen and Wei-Ming Chen, also expressed their gratitude. They stated that the support from Bank SinoPac allowed students to focus on developing innovative solutions to address pressing social issues. "With the sponsorship from Bank SinoPac, we are able to provide more resources, guidance, and opportunities to students, helping them transform their ideas into impactful ventures, broaden their international perspectives, and further strengthen their confidence and goals."
The selection process for the "NCKU x Bank SinoPac Scholarship" includes both written review and interviews, particularly emphasizing the enhancement of students' understanding and awareness of sustainable development and ESG topics. Through this diverse selection mechanism, the university and the corporate sector jointly nurture future talents with a sense of social responsibility.
Looking ahead, NCKU and Bank SinoPac will continue to deepen their collaboration, promoting more initiatives that benefit student development and social progress, making educational resources not just a means of financial support but a key driving force for inspiring students to realize their dreams and impact society.
